Quick Start Guides
Getting Started
What is Lyfestash?
Secure, zero-knowledge, end-to-end encrypted web app for all your life records.
Your Dashboard
After logging in, you'll see three main sections:
- My Vault - Store and manage your records
- My Circle - Manage the people you trust (grantees) and people who trust you (grantors)
- Shared Records - View records others have shared with you
Circle of Trust
- Grantor = you (the person storing records)
- Grantee = trusted contacts you add to your circle
Grantees get access only in these ways:
- You use Live Access (Share Now) on specific records
- You grant Full Immediate Legacy Access (they instantly see all legacy records assigned to them)
- They request after you pass/incapacitated → wait period → notifications → access granted only if unblocked

Pinning Important Records
You can pin up to 6 records for quick access. Pinned records appear at the top of your vault with a pin badge.
How to pin: Open a record and click the pin icon in the top right corner.
Inviting Grantees to Your Circle
What is a Grantee?
A grantee is someone you trust to access your records. They might be family members, close friends, or professional advisors like attorneys, accountants, or financial advisors.
How to Add a Grantee
- Go to My Circle
- Click "+ Add Grantee"
- Enter their email address → Invite
- They accept invitation
- You confirm → keys connected
How does the wait period work?
You set it (e.g., 24–48 hours, default: 48 hours). Any posthumous request notifies you + all grantees by email/SMS. Anyone can block it instantly.
How to change your wait period:
My Account → Edit Profile Info → choose new wait period → Save
Can I give full access while alive?
Yes. Grant Full Immediate Legacy Access to any grantee — revocable anytime.
How to grant:
- Go to My Circle
- Select grantee
- Click "Grant access" (revoke anytime with "Revoke access")
How to remove a grantee
My Circle → select grantee → Remove (revokes all access instantly)
Tip: You can approve access requests immediately if needed, bypassing the wait period.
Live Access vs Legacy Sharing
Lyfestash offers two ways to share records with your grantees:
⚡ Live Live Access (Share Now)
Instant access to specific records - no waiting period
Best for:
- Emergency situations (medical records, important contacts)
- Collaboration with advisors or family
- Temporary access needs
- Sharing urgent information right now
🏛️ Legacy Legacy Sharing (For After You're Gone)
Access granted through request + wait period system
Best for:
- Estate planning and digital legacy
- Long-term information preservation
- What happens when you're no longer available
- Passing important info to family/heirs
Can I Use Both?
Yes! A single record can have both Live Access and Legacy Sharing. They work completely independently.
Example: You might give your spouse Live Access to your bank account info (for immediate needs) while also having it set to Legacy Sharing for your children (for after you're gone).

No. Grantees never see other grantees' identities. When someone requests access, other grantees are notified only that "someone has requested access" and the reason (passed away/incapacitated). They never see the requester's name. Only you (the grantor) see the requester's name in your notification.
